PIKA Technologies adds BRI connectivity to WARP Appliance

PIKA Technologies adds BRI connectivity to WARP Appliance

New expansion module delivers more options to developers

OTTAWA, Canada – March 3, 2009 – PIKA Technologies Inc., a developer of media-processing hardware and software, continues to respond to customers’ needs and expand the capabilities of its WARP Appliance product portfolio with the release of its BRI expansion module. BRI, or basic rate interface, is a digital connectivity option used internationally that’s ideal for residential and small-to-medium business use.

PIKA’s WARP Appliance is designed for companies that build open source custom IP-PBXs, as well as other telecommunications solutions such as IVRs, dialers and logging systems, using both proprietary and open-source software. Because of its compact size and cost-effective pricing, the WARP Appliance is ideal for small and medium enterprises.

PIKA’s BRI expansion module makes the WARP appliance the ideal embedded solution for the growing number of small-to-medium phone system developers that require BRI connectivity to their phone-service provider or any existing PBX installation.

PIKA’s BRI module supports two ports and four channels, allowing the WARP Appliance to reach a total port density of four ports and eight channels when two BRI modules are installed.

“PIKA continues to expand the capabilities of WARP in response to the demands of the market,” said Terry Atwood, PIKA’s vice president of sales, marketing and customer care. “Our support for BRI connectivity for small-medium phone systems developers provides a greater range of options for custom application deployment.”

PIKA’s customers who build custom voice systems for small and medium-sized business have embraced the addition of the BRI expansion module to the features and capabilities they already enjoy with the WARP Appliance.

Tri-Torque Technology, is a Dutch-based provider of custom technology and consulting services, with a customer list that includes public utilities and government agencies across Europe. In addition, it provides custom VoIP telephony solutions through its TTTelecom unit, including custom interactive voice response systems that utilize the WARP Appliance.

“BRI connectivity is a welcome addition from PIKA,” said Erwin van der Waal, director at Tri-Torque. “It expands the addressable market among small- and medium-sized businesses for the compact and affordable solutions that we couldn’t build without the Warp Appliance.”

CTI-PRO ltd. is an independent distributor of third-party telecommunication hardware and software development tools with a focus on the central and eastern European markets.

“When PIKA released the Warp Appliance, it provided us with the solution we needed to market for the first time a full PBX system,” said David Vit, general manager of CTI-PRO. “PIKA’s BRI expansion module for the Appliance broadens the market appeal of our system and supports our strategy to expand into western Europe.”

Debreuil Systems Corp. is a French provider of custom voice and fax servers, telephony integration, voice traffic analysis software and embedded Linux development.

“The WARP Appliance is an excellent solution for quick, efficient and cost-effective voice application deployment in a small package,” said Phillippe Debreuil Senior Telecom Engineer. “But the market appeal, especially outside of North America, is limited without compatibility with a digital connectivity standard such as BRI. This expansion module from PIKA has made the Appliance a solution with true global appeal.”

Other BRI features include:
- S/T physical interface
- Euro-ISDN signalling
- NT/TE configurable per port
